Lanaken is
a municipality situated in Belgium, (province of
Limburg), in the
extreme south of the Meuse border area, 5 km from the center of
Maastricht (the Netherlands) and about
40 km from Aachen (Germany).
The total area is 59.00
km˛. The population on 01 January 2007 is about 25.000
inhabitants.
Lanaken consists of the
following villages: Lanaken, Rekem, Neerharen, Gellik, Veldwezelt,
Smeermaas and Kesselt.

Travelling by airplane
:
Brussels Airport situated in Zaventem is the
national Airport and is about 100 km from Lanaken (about 1
hour driving).
However
Maastricht Aachen Airport is only 15 tot 20 minutes from Lanaken.
Travelling by train
:
The nearest
Belgian railway
station to Lanaken is located in Genk. If your train stops in Genk you can take
bus nr.45 to Lanaken (Hasselt
- Genk -Maaseik/Maastricht)
Maastricht also has a
railway station. If your plane lands in
Schiphol-Amsterdam you can take a train to Amsterdam every hour
(sometimes 2 times in one hour). From Maastricht
Station it takes only about 15 minutes to travel to Lanaken.
